Penny has extensive experience advising businesses on how to respond to corporate criminal tax offences (CCOs) that were introduced in 2017 and specifically how a business should manage its exposure and ensure that it can rely on the reasonable prevention procedures defence if necessary. Another key focus is the increased employment taxes that businesses face as a result of changes to the off-payroll working rules (IR35). Penny has extensive experience advising large corporates across a wide range of sectors on how to manage IR35 related tax risks. Beyond tax risk management, Penny also provides technical assistance to clients and members of the team on all areas of corporate tax including corporate finance and M&A work, private equity, employment tax and property tax.
