Nicholas Berry is a corporate and regulatory insurance lawyer based in London. He is ranked as a next generation lawyer by Legal 500 (2017).

Nicholas joined the firm in 2006. He advises on corporate and regulatory issues for clients in the global insurance sector. His experience includes mergers and acquisitions, insurance linked securities and collateralised reinsurance, capital raisings, structured insurance and reinsurance, capacity arrangements, strategic partnerships, restructurings, portfolio transfers and joint ventures. His clients include global insurers and reinsurers, intermediaries, MGAs and private equity investors. He is a regular contributor to publications such as Insurance Day on insurance related matters, including the UK government's proposals to make London a global ILS centre.

Nicholas is a leading member of our InsurTech practice and is increasingly recognised as an expert and thought leader in the space. He is regularly invited to speak at industry events on InsurTech and the use of technology in the insurance sector, including at the Insurance Law Forum (a Thomson Reuters' Practical Law conference) and the FCA's InsurTech conference. He also writes briefings and white papers on the topic, his latest being 'Digitizing the insurance value chain'.

Nicholas acts for clients such as: Prudential plc (where he has also spent six months on secondment), AXA, Swiss Re, XL Catlin, Zurich, QBE, Friends Life, HSBC, Aquiline Capital Partners and AIG.
