Sumita has a mixed criminal defence and family law practice.

Sumita’s practice is divided into two practice areas. Sumita has built a reputation for expertise in all levels of serious violent crime, including Murder, s.18 GBH, rape, sexual assault, drug importation and supply and robbery.

Sumita is often instructed in serious sexual matters that involve the detailed cross examination of vulnerable witnesses. She also has particular experience in dealing with vulnerable clients with mental health difficulties and is experienced in conducting finding of fact hearings.

She also has experience in handling complex expert evidence, ranging from telephone and forensic analysis to medical experts.

In her second practice area of family law, Sumita has experience of representing both applicants and respondents in contact proceedings and ancillary relief proceedings. She also has experience of appearing in care proceedings for all hearings, including full hearings. Sumita also has particular experience in representing intervenors in financial relief proceedings. She is able to effectively represent the parties’ interests in the family law arena with her sensible and sensitive approach to the needs of the clients.
