Richard is a corporate governance specialist. His practice focuses on advising on all aspects of corporate governance, Financial Conduct Authority and Stock Exchange regulatory compliance and procedure. He has substantial experience advising listed public and large private companies on governance and compliance matters, including continuing obligations, disclosure requirements, governance systems and controls, the impact of the market abuse regulation, capital management initiatives, narrative reporting, constitutional matters and law, procedure and practice in relation to company meetings.

In 2014, Richard was seconded to the corporate governance team within the Group Company Secretarial function of a FTSE 5 financial institution, with responsibility for governance issues and oversight of the Annual General Meeting. He has contributed to several publications on governance, including ICSA's "A Practical Guide to Good Company Reporting" (2015). He is also the lead author of Addleshaw's annual market-leading publication "The Company Secretary's Checklist: The annual report of a listed company" and is a regular speaker at Addleshaw Goddard's governance and compliance seminars. He has also provided consultancy support to clients in relation to their bespoke company secretarial / governance recruitment processes. Prior to his corporate advisory focus, Richard was a transactional lawyer, specialising in private M&A and banking in both England and Spain.
