Mills & Reeve

I am a solicitor in our private client team, specialising in contentious trust and probate issues. My role within Mills & Reeve involves advising on a broad range of contentious trust and will disputes, such as lack of testamentary capacity claims, undue influence, proprietary estoppel, substitution and removal of personal representatives, claims under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975, charity legacy disputes and many more. The clients that I deal with therefore vary from private individuals to trustees, charities and business owners. I have acted in disputes where the sums involved range from the relatively small to tens of millions of pounds.

Mills & Reeve is one of the few firms outside London that has a dedicated trust and probate litigation team. We are virtually unique in offering nationwide coverage in this field. Our clients therefore receive first class specialist advice at regional rates. I was pleased to see that the latest edition of the Legal 500 ranks us as the only top tier firm for contentious trust and probate work in East Anglia.

The issues that my clients face are often highly emotive and sensitive. More often than not there are family members at war with one another, which makes the challenge of resolving a legal dispute even more difficult. I am extremely mindful of this and always adopt a sympathetic approach. I like my clients to feel that I am more than just a legal adviser, but also someone they can turn to in difficult times.

Prior to joining Mills & Reeve, I studied Law and French Law at both the University of Leeds and University of Toulouse, France. I subsequently completed my LPC at the College of Law, York. I speak fluent French and am often asked to translate legal documents, either from French to English or vice versa.

As part of my role at Mills & Reeve, I regularly provide seminars to external professionals and other lawyers, focusing on contentious trust and probate matters. I also frequently write articles for numerous specialist trust and estate publications, covering topical issues and recent case law.
