Katharine is recognised as a leading trademark enforcement and litigation expert by World Trademark Review and other publications. She is experienced in designing and implementing protection and enforcement strategies based on trademarks and designs and for one multinational consumer electronics corporation she managed their entire enforcement programme across the whole of Europe for a number of years. Her work encompasses advising on consumer product regulations and the issues raised by the proposals for plain packaging of cigarettes.

Katharine also specialises in patent disputes and advice work in the electronic, computer technology and engineering sectors often coordinating and running patent litigation in more than one jurisdiction. She has acted in cases relating to a range of technology, for example, Stolt v. Coflexip (offshore pipe laying), Storage Computer v. Hitachi (RAID storage systems), DRS Data & Research Services v. NCS Pearson (software patents in the education field), Philips Electronics v. Amino Communications (MPEG-2 video compression), BAE Systems v. Thales Visionix (helmet mounted displays), Positec v. Husqvarna (robotic lawnmowers) and over the years has led teams in actions for Nokia against Qualcomm, Interdigital, HTC and IPCom.  Most recently she was involved in a significant arbitration for Nokia against Samsung.
