John is a Partner in Clarke Wilmott's Commercial Team specialising in commercial contracts particularly between trading companies and the shareholders of companies. Examples of the sorts of contracts include distribution, manufacturing, supply (including supply chain), asset finance, purchasing and turnkey projects based on deliverables. In particular John is very experienced at dealing with contracts for the supply, delivery, installation and commissioning of capital goods plant and equipment and related performance criteria.

John is also one of a relatively small number of lawyers who is comfortable dealing with traditional partnerships. He has advised on numerous partnership agreements, terminations retirements and expulsions particularly with GPs.

His expertise includes working with motor manufacturers and distributors on a pan European basis and with other manufacturers setting up distribution agreements all over the world.

John has substantial M & A experience and has recently (2017) acted in the acquisition of a long established, English, Girls Boarding School.

John joined Clarke Willmott in 2016 after extensive experience including 15 years in industry, 13 of those being with a global truck manufacturer as Director of Legal Affairs for Northern Europe. John then spent 8 years as partner in a niche commercial firm in the City of London before coming to Birmingham in 2009.
