Joanna Hunt advises on all aspects of immigration law including applications under the Points Based System, Immigration Rules, European and Human Rights law.

She is an immigration specialist with a diverse client base, from multinational companies to individuals. Her aim is to simplify the complex immigration system for her clients, to help them negotiate its challenges effectively and compliantly. Joanna advises on all aspect of immigration law; applications under the Points Based System and other categories of the Immigration Rules, British nationality law, European free movement law and Human Rights law. Ms Hunt also has expertise in complex immigration litigation via appeal and judicial review applications.

Joanna holds a Bachelor of Laws with French awarded by the University of Newcastle in 2003 and a Master of Laws awarded by the University of Toronto in 2005. She qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales in 2009 after completing the Legal Practice Course.

She is also a member of the Immigration Law Practitioners’ Association and a regular contributor to the Free Movement blog.

Joanna joined Lewis Silkin in 2012 and became a managing associate in 2018. Before joining the firm she worked in for a highly regarded personal immigration firm, assisting with applications under the immigration rules and challenging decisions via appeal. After she joined Lewis Silkin she developed a corporate practice which now entails advising multinational companies embarking on global team moves and providing commercial and concise advice on the immigration process. Joanna design and deliver a range of training programs for clients to ensure their teams are up to date on the latest developments and have developed a suite of products to ensure her clients can upskill their HR teams in key immigration areas.

She have a wealth of experience within the professional services sector, providing immigration services to a number of magic circle law firms. She assists with the advice on recruitment and compliance and tailor her advice to fit the specific needs of her clients and their industry.
