Alistair is responsible for BLM's engagement with government departments and regulators on policy and public affairs issues and consultations affecting the firm and its clients across the UK and Ireland. He has recently led BLM’s activity in connection with the reform of the discount rate and the reviews of the European Motor Insurance Directive. He coordinated much of the firm’s work around implementation of the Insurance Act 2015.
He was a member of the Civil Justice Council of England & Wales for ten years until January 2016 (during which time he worked on various aspects of the Jackson reforms). He is a regular speaker and experienced commentator on legal and procedural reform. In addition, Alistair is author to BLM’s policy blog, www.blmpolicyblog.com
He is a member of the Ogden Working Party (which publishes official actuarial tables of multipliers for use in personal injury claims). Alistair also edited the chapter on foreign claims in Bingham and Berrymans' Personal Injury and Motor Claims Cases and has acted as contributing editor to the Law Society’s Litigation Funding Handbook.
