Roopa Aitken is an international tax specialist with significant experience of advising groups on a wide range of international tax matters and in particular is a specialist in the area of EC law. Prior to joining Grant Thornton, Roopa was in the international tax group of a Big Four for many years and led their EU specialist group.

Roopa has advised many companies on EC claims and has helped clients make claims through the tax return and at the courts including working on a couple of very high profile cases which were heard at the European Court of Justice. Roopa also has substantial experience of treaty clearances, intellectual property planning and has led many negotiations with HMRC International Division on thin capitalisation disputes
