Mohsin is a Senior Manager in BDO’s VAT team and a financial services VAT specialist.

He started his career in 2000 at HMRC working in their City office FS team. He also spent time working in HMRC’s FS VAT policy team and on the VAT Finance and Commodities Unit of Expertise. He advised on matters such as, eMoney, commodity trading, Islamic finance, payment services and fund management.

After 11 years at HMRC, he joined a “big 4” accounting firm advising global investment banks, UK retail banks, asset managers and a range of other FS clients including FinTech companies. During this time, he also spent 6 months on a secondment at Global US investment bank. Assisting the tax team with their VAT reporting, reviewing their cross-border intra-group services and their VAT recovery methodology.

He also worked in-house at National Australia Bank as the head of VAT and Operational Taxes. He was responsible for providing advice to the different business lines and establishing the VAT and operation tax compliance processes.
