Inheritance Tax planning - latest developments

In the 2011 Budget, the Government introduced a lower rate of inheritance tax for people who leave a charitable legacy of 10% or more of their estate. The reduced rate will be 36% rather than the normal rate of 40%. It is expected to become law in the Finance Bill 2012 and will apply to deaths on or after 6th April 2012.
