HMRC's powers - where are we now?
Scheduled for Monday, June 18, 2012 - 12:30
As anticipated, the Chancellor announced in the 2012 Budget that he will introduce general anti-abuse rules (GAAR) into the UK tax system. It is expected that the new rules will come into effect in April 2013, following a period of consultation. In his report, Graham Aaronson QC recommended that the new rules should be narrowly focused. However this announcement has created a fierce debate about where the line should lie between ordinary tax planning and abusive arrangements.
Our eminent speakers will examine where this line is expected to be and what impact GAAR is anticipated to have on the tax landscape in the UK.
This webinar will cover:
• General anti-abuse rules (GAAR) – where are we now?
• UK-Swiss tax agreement
• Update on Liechtenstein Disclosure Facility
• Tax agents
