Extradition - What's Next?
Originally broadcast on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 - 15:30
Extradition is once again in the media spotlight, following the recent decision by Theresa May to approve the extradition of Richard O’Dwyer, accused of copyright infringement, to the US. He joins a long list of controversial, high profile extradition cases, which raise the question of whether the UK-US extradition treaty is unbalanced. However, the Extradition Review Panel concluded that this was not the case.
Our eminent speakers will debate these polarising findings and analyse the practical issues arising out of recent case law.
This webinar will cover:
• Changes following the Extradition Review Panel
• European Arrest Warrant
• Extradition and Article 8, including the rights of other family members and the relationship with the passage of time
• Extradition and mental health
• Extradition and trans-national crime
• Appeals and time limits, including matters that can be raised on appeal
