The new Local Democracy, Economic Development and Construction Act is due to come into force on 1st October. It will make significant changes to the adjudication and payment regimes, resulting in a need to amend the standard form contracts to comply with the new law. There have also been substantial developments in case law affecting construction disputes, including the decision in City Inn v Shepherd Construction, which will have far reaching consequences for the already complex area of determining ‘concurrent delay’.
